ABOUT ME

I am Andrea i work under the Willow umbrella at the High Street room offering face to face sessions. I have a particular interest in working with children and young adults within the spectrum and am constantly adding to my knowledge with further CPD and training. I have a full enhanced DBS and have updated safeguarding training in accordance with BACP my governing body. I am aware how hard it can be to reach out and get support, therefore I have a great deal of respect for anyone who recognises they are struggling and chooses to step into counseling. Asking for help takes a great deal of  courage. I am a qualified, registered integrative counsellor offering a warm, empathic and compassionate approach to therapy for children, young people and adults.  Prior to my training as a counsellor my background was 30 plus years working within Social Services, the NHS and various Charity organisations. I supported children and adults who had learning disabilities/ difficulties, ASD/ ADHD and mental health diagnosis. With all that the world has been through, it is understandable that the uncertainty many are facing has had an impact on mental health. This has been a difficult time for people, particularly those with ADHD/ ASD.  I'm here to listen, support and empower you to improve your own wellbeing.  Within my sessions I offer time and space, calmness and sensitivity. All sessions are  confidential and non judgemental. I offer clients the opportunity to explore their inner world in a way that keeps them at the centre.

Areas I can support you include

  • Anxieties and worries

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Identity issues

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION

Being an integrative counsellor means I am able to apply a variety of different approaches to the therapeutic relationship, such as TA, CBT, Psychodynamic and Mindfullness , with a person centred approach being at its core. Willow sessions run for 60 mins and can be short or long term in duration.  For some people giving eye contact or talking for a length of time can be difficult and that’s ok. There are a variety of resources on offer to use within the room such as art materials, games, crystals, lego and many more. We can sit on the chairs or on the floor, whatever you need to feel comfortable and safe within the room.

I look forward to working with you.
